Although this title is part of a series of “Historical Dictionaries”, this volume on Postwar Japan resembles a mini‐encyclopaedia, with many longer entries extending to several pages and even the shortest are six or seven lines long. It provides more than just definitions and gives a useful level of context and explication. The coverage is wide‐ranging including some broad topics such as agriculture and crime, but most of the entries are for organizations or individuals with a particular emphasis on politics and the arts, including contemporary popular culture.
