Mughal Architecture and Gardens

The British ruled large parts of India for about a century and a half. They left behind a small but quite noticeable architectural heritage: a few odd bits of Lutyen's Delhi, some remarkably elegant public buildings in Kolkata, some high‐Victorian Alpine kitsch in various hill resorts, and, above all, a range of magnificent railway stations. Before the British however, a large part of northern India had been ruled by a series of emperors of equally alien origin – the Mongols or, as named here, the Mughals.
