Handbook of the Mammals of the World. Vol. 1: Carnivores; Vol. 2: Hoofed Mammals

These large volumes on carnivores and hoofed mammals respectively are the first two of what will eventually be an eight volume reference collection describing and documenting every mammal species currently recognised in the world. On completion the collection will include a further six volumes which will examine primates, sea mammals, marsupials, rodents, insectivores and bats.

The series is patterned on the same publisher's Handbook of the Birds of the World (RR 2008/360) series that began publication in 1992 and its production follows from the results of the Global Mammal Assessment, launched at the International Union for Conservation of Nature...
