The first edition of this book appeared in 2004 under the title The Horror Readers' Advisory: The Librarian's Guide to Vampires, Killer Tomatoes, and Haunted Houses and was co‐authored by Tammy Clausen, Spratford's colleague at Berwyn (Illinois) Public Library. Both books belong to the ALA Reader's Advisory series.
