This site claims to be “an open source global hub. It connects to free knowledge resources in semiotics and other interesting research”. The site's “.com” designation belies the claim that it is a non‐profit organization. All aspects of writing and production are done by volunteers. These volunteers have impressive credentials, which visitors to the site can access through the page called The Pool. For example, Paul Bouissac, who is in charge of Ideation and Direction for the site, has studied and written on semiotics since the 1970s and is a professor emeritus of the University of Toronto.
