With the excessive spread of invasive species throughout North America, it is a boon to find a database that specializes in native plants. The Native Plant Information Network (NPIN) managed by the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center of The University of Texas at Austin is an incredible resource. Their mission, “… to educate North America about the environmental necessity, economic value, and natural beauty of native plants,” is exemplified with more than 7,300 species cataloged in the Native Plant Database section of the site and over 30,000 images.
