A Companion to Global Environmental History

Environmental history is a fairly new distinct subset of history that first emerged in the 1970s and is now large and active enough to warrant a volume in the Wiley-Blackwell Companions to History series of which it is the first to be called “Global”. Environmental history is a topic which is global in many respects. It is also one that can be particularly local.
