This is an updated edition of a book first published in 1997. It provides a year by year history of the people and events in jazz history since 1895, beginning with the evolution of jazz from its origins in the southern states of the USA up to the middle of 2010, although the latest event mentioned is the concert given by Wynton Marsalis and Eric Clapton in April 2011. (So there’s been a time lag of over two years before publication in October 2013).
