The Oxford Encyclopedia of Islam and Politics

This encyclopaedia sets out to cover the political dimensions of Islam and the Muslim world. Politics and religion have converged in important and complex ways, above all in recent decades. This work acknowledges how wide this convergence has been: identity and the nation-state, religion and secular ideology, faith-shaped politics and economics, Islamist movements and parties contesting power and religious politics as a catalyst for change.
