This charming, beautifully produced and handy little book gives the origins of 1,000 English words arranged alphabetically into 100 widely diverse themes. Some are in common usage, some less so and some relatively obscure. There is a useful index of each word and which section to find it in at the end. Each word has a little paragraph ranging from a few to over 100 words, depending on the complexity of the word’s origin.
