While there are many excellent websites and some very good, concise overviews, very few works on this condition could be described as “comprehensive”. This substantial volume, written by a highly qualified, authoritative and experienced clinician, is an exception. The five years spent in the writing show in the depth and expertise of this text. The author is never patronising; his approach is matter-of-fact and accessible throughout, underpinned by compassion and common sense. Real-life stories are used to enhance the explanations of our current understanding of, and ability to treat, the condition.
