This third edition of Historical Dictionary of Indonesia follows the first edition of 1992 and the second of 2004, the latter also reviewed in these columns by this reviewer (RR 2005/224). The first edition was the work of Robert Cribb, now a Professor at the Australian National University School of Culture, History and Language. Cribb’s research interests include Indonesian politics and particularly the origins of the massacres of the late 1940s and mid-1960s.
