Outstanding issue

Reference Librarians and Institutional Repositories

Reference Services Review, Volume 33 Number 3, 2005

This theme issue serves two purposes: to inform reference librarians, library administrators, and others about two significant forces for change in the scholarly communication arena – institutional repositories (IRs) and open access, and secondly, to raise awareness of some of the roles reference librarians can play in planning, establishing, and supporting institutional repositories. Given that both IRs and open access are relative newcomers on the information landscape, the issue provides a roadmap and begins to chart new territory for practitioners.

The issue’s timeliness, clearly defined scope and highly relevant content position it to be recognised in the Emerald Literati Network Awards for Excellence.
