With global warming and climate change, there is widespread awareness of the need to develop and run green buildings. This applies to public facilities such as the local health care centre (HCC). The study evaluates the criteria needed for green buildings for smaller scale local HCC (called Puskesmas) in the greater Jakarta area. It also compares the pioneer green HCC project (Tebet HCC) by assessing their Edge certification with the more extensive GREENSHIP framework.
To address the needs of all similar HCC in the Jakarta area, we examined the GREENSHIP criteria utilizing the SIPA Eisenhower technique. This approach assessed the criteria in terms of importance, urgency and feasibility. We then explore this framework by scoring the pioneer green HCC project (Tebet HCC) with GREENSHIP framework and SIPA Eisenhower approach.
The results revealed that the criteria can be divided into eight quadrants. For small-scale HCCs like Puskesmas in the Jakarta area, we offer a reduced version of GREENSHIP called Puske-GREENSHIP, where certain irrelevant criteria with limited influence are to be excluded. For Tebet HCCs we also offered a set of recommendation to help them increase their current scoring with the (simplified) GREENSHIP framework.
The study offers a simplified version of green building certification criteria for smaller scale HCCs in the greater Jakarta area. With Puske-GREENSHIP the opportunity of having green building for local HCCs in the greater Jakarta area can be made more feasible.
The value of the study lies in our pragmatism in proposing the Puske-GREENSHIP which should align with the SGD objectives for public facilities such as HCC while at the same time still practical in implementation.
