Elobau 424W angle sensors from Relec Electronics offer IP67 protection, a non-contact Hall-effect design, EMC immunity and a rugged double ball-bearing construction (Plate 17).
The market for angle sensors continues to grow, but fewer and fewer manufacturers seem to be able to offer affordable, high-quality, rugged designs.

The Hall-effect design avoids the use of a mechanical wiper mechanism,significantly improving reliability and avoiding shock and vibration problems. The double ball-bearing construction not only provides the rigidity essential for off-road or agricultural applications, but it also provides reduced wear and a very long life.
The sensor meets automotive EMC levels of protection to 200V/m, required for safety functions on applications such as hand throttles. They are also protected against ESD and burst test voltages, and are short-circuit resistant.
The electronics are fully-encapsulated and totally potted, with an internal membrane. Electrical connection is provided by a waterproof AMP Superseal three-pin connector.
The 424W is pin-for-pin and dimensionally compatible with Honeywell sensors. Unlimited rotation through 360°C is offered, without "end stops".
The angular measuring range is between 30° (±15°) and 120°(±608). The operating temperature range is between –25°C and+75°C.
Typical applications will include steering mechanisms, lifting arms,suspensions found in off-road vehicles, agricultural machinery, cranes, forklift trucks, etc.
