This research evaluates the performance of the organizations in Taiwan that have been recognized as ISO 9000 series registered companies. Using discriminant analysis methodology, we attempt to determine if the implementation efforts toward quality have improved the performance. Cross‐sectional survey methodology is employed. Thus, through a well‐developed questionnaire design, six major dimensions with a total of 40 key elements regarding performance found in TQM literature are examined. As a result, we find about 70 per cent of the companies that have achieved ISO 9000 approval are performing in line with how they were originally assessed.
