A great deal of work has been done over the past ten years on the economic impact of tourism. The universities, polytechnics, industry training boards, professional associations and government departments have produced papers, surveys, commentaries and analyses. The conclusions set down below represent a reasonable consensus view taking into account the more evident flaws and fallacies that are apparent in some of the work done.
