52nd AIEST Congress in Salvador de Bahia (Brasil) Call for special reports

The 52nd AIEST Congress will be held from 18 to 23 August 2002 in Salvador de Bahia (Brasil). The topic is “Air Transport and Tourism”. With growing travel distances air transport is a major link in the chain of tourism services. Its importance has increased significantly in recent years as a result of the on‐going globalisation process and the related phenomenon of the internationalisation of tourism demand. The major restructuring in which the airline industry finds itself has been accelerated by the current crisis. The AIEST will take advantage of this Congress to reflect on the impact these changes in the area of air transport are likely to have on tourism demand and supply structure, and the ways in which the management of tourism enterprises need to adapt.
