Visitors to the Library Technology Fair in July this year will have noticed the appearance for the first time of two library house‐keeping systems running on the Apple Macintosh. While in the States the Mac seems to be extremely popular in many application areas including libraries (there is an active Apple Library Users Group), in this country interest has grown more slowly. The features of the Mac which make it an ideal tool for typesetting and desktop publishing have not been missed but in the area of library systems, until recently there has been little software available. It is for this reason that it is particularly pleasing to see some new products coming onto the market for this hardware.
