This article introduces EPRESS, a new project funded by the Electronic Libraries programme. EPRESS aims to change the way that electronic journals are administrated by offering software tools, shared knowledge and shared features. The ultimate aim is to relieve the editorial assistant of many of the laborious tasks of ejournal production and reduce the technical expertise required to publish. This will lead to lower labour costs and ultimately cheaper journals.
