Note from the Editor

This issue of VINE is a retrospective consideration of The Joint Information Systems Committee’s (JISC’s) Learning and Teaching and Infrastructure Programme, also known as 5/99. Included are an introduction to the whole programme, by the guest editors Rachel Bruce and Balviar Notay of JISC, short summaries of each cluster of projects and longer articles on specific exemplary projects. There is a list of project URLs.

The projects illustrate dynamic approaches to a wider range of technical,organisational and cultural issues in the academic sector, all within the context of JISC’s overall vision of an integrated information environment.
