A quarter of a million square feet of corrosion‐resistant compounded rubber lining weighing some 170 tons has been used in the new bromine‐from‐sea‐water plant on the Isle of Anglesey, North Wales. In addition a large amount of rubber has been used for pipes, valves, ducting, jointing material, etc. Here is a description of the rubber lining work carried out in this unusual chemical plant, the products of which are used to make tetraethyl lead anti‐knock compounds for aviation and motor spirit.
