International manufacturer, Days Medical Aids (DMA), is incorporating a new-look finish option developed by Plascoat in a major upgrade of its medical rehabilitation products range.
A series of bathing products produced in tubular mild steel is being coated in a granito version of Plascoat's Performance Polymer Alloy PPA571 as an attractive alternative to white. A black-and-white speckled effect granito finish has been selected by DMA, although the coating material is available in a wide range of colour options.
The volume of products is such that DMA established an in-house fluidised bed coating line in 1995,standardising on white and brown Plascoat PPA571 coatings.
"The move enabled us to take full control of the application of a quality coating, while trimming turnaround times and maintaining a price competitive edge," adds John Pitt, DMA works manager.
PPA571 provides good long-term adhesion, by application to the cleaned steel in a single shot, without the need for a primer. The coating's other properties include a high level of corrosion protection, being highly resistant to pollutants as well as abrasion and impact damage.
