"Vector" leaflet from USF Vacu-Blast

Keywords Surface preparation, Vacu-Blast

Vacu-Blast, part of the USF Surface Preparation Group, has produced a new colour brochure which provides comprehensive information on its latest Vector range of automatic blasting machines.

The Vector range has been specially developed for repetitive precision surface preparation, finishing and treatment operations, including shot peening. Modular in concept, Vector machines allow the user to install a basic automatic unit that can be readily upgraded as production requirements evolve or vary.

The "entry level" model offers a two-axis roof-mounted nozzle manipulator and a power driven turntable and features Vacu-Blast's innovative Vacutrol II WindowsTM based control system, which is available with "touchscreen" as well as keyboard operation. The degree of automation can be enhanced with the addition of a third axis of blast nozzle manipulation with "sweep" or "wrist" motions for the fully-programmable processing of more complex shapes. Multinozzle arrays can also be fitted. The control system has been designed to comply with the latest EMC legislation.

Typical applications include precision surface etching, the cleaning of intricate moulds, selective surface preparation, plastic media paint stripping, surface texturing, and controlled shot peening. All types of blast media can be used.

Vector machines come in four standard blast enclosure sizes 1.25m2, 1.5m2,2m2 and 2.5m2, with different height options. Noise levels have been minimised with special acoustic construction, and a low-level roll-in track and large access door are standard features. In-cycle blast media recycling and regrading are also standard and dust emission levels are well within COSHH requirements. Options include suction or pressure fed operation and size-and-shape classification for shot peening applications.
