KCH Keramchemie (UK) Ltd,a subsidiary of Keramchemie GmbH in Siershahn, Germany, has recently completed three industrial floor finishing contracts for beverage companies worth a total of £1 million. The first contract, for A.G. Barr Softdrinks Ltd in Atherton, was completed at the end of 1997. The second for Wells Softdrinks Ltd in Northampton was completed at the end of May 1997 and the floor protection contract for Calypso Softdrinks in Wrexham ran from June to mid-August 1997.
Within KCH Keramchemie(UK) Ltd, the orders were handled by its corrosion engineering services (CES)division, a previous subsidiary which was recently merged with its parent company. An average of eight specialist tradesmen, all KCH/CES employees, were assigned to each site. This ensured that both the quality control of the materials and their expert application were exclusively the responsibility of the KCH company.
For floor protection finishes in the food industry, KCH Keramchemie (UK) Ltd primarily uses its vibratory process. With this process, 20mm thick tiles are hand-laid on a 40mm thick sand and cement bed. The uniformity of the 2mm joint width is ensured by integral spacers and special vibratory machines guarantee an absolutely flat,lip-free floor. Subsequent wet pointing with epoxy resin completes the floor covering.
This process enables high-strength industrial floors that resist even the concentrated point loads of machinery to be laid quickly and efficiently. The very narrow joints make vibrated floor coverings attractive for all premises in the food industry. Their availability in various colours also means that production areas can easily be visually offset from traffic lanes.
Based in Sandbach, Chesire the KCH Keramchemie (UK) Ltd product range comprises industrial corrosion protection, industrial floor and floor sealing systems, and pickling and acid-recovery plants for the surface treatment of materials. They also provide environmental engineering plants to treat process waste air and effluent and decontaminate old refuse.
