Corrosion inhibitors for industrial cleaning

We tend to think of corrosion in terms of what happens to metals as a result of weathering or as a consequence of the normal working hazards of industrial plant. There is another aspect which is not so obvious, and that is, paradoxically, in the process of industrial cleaning. This often involves the use of materials which could give rise to corrosive attack either through the risk inherent in the cleaner itself whilst it is operating or because it is a potential promoter of corrosion by virtue of the residues it leaves behind.
