Winter comfort for shotblasters The need for a high rate of ventilation in a shotblasting room — up to 6 air changes per minute — means that heating is not practicable for the normal installation. Quite often the blast room is sited in a large workshop, in which other people are working, and which is liable to drain of heat by the discharge of thousands of cubic feet of warm air per minute to outside atmosphere. Releasing this massive volume of air within the factory is impractical and in fact illegal, because of the micro‐dust it may contain.
