The cathodic protection of cargo compartments in tankers is now a well‐established and proven method of preventing deterioration due to corrosion of bulkheads, stringers and other members. The cathodic protection installation to the cargo compartments of the Regent Springbok was successfully carried out last July and this article describes briefly the design and procedure adopted together with information on tanker cargo compartment corrosion theory.
