Tape Protects Polished Metals Sellotape paper protection tape is a combination of a lightly impregnated flatback paper and elasticised adhesive film. It is designed for protection of highly finished sheets during storage or in transit, and prevention of scratching and scuffing whilst the sheets are being handled. The paper absorbs the initial shock during the forming process and, even when the paper itself is broken, the adhesive film underneath stretches and remains intact as the metal is pressed into shape. The tape has a thickness of 0.005 in. and 17 p.s.i. width tensile strength. CT 1235
