At the port of Kingston‐upon‐Hull, in the Humber Estuary, the British Transport Commission, in association with the user companies, are replacing the No. 1 oil jetty constructed in timber in 1914 with a reinforced concrete structure. The approach jetties, when fully completed, will be nearly half a mile in length and have a three‐tiered pipe‐carrying structure and approach roadway. Some 57 chemicals and oil pipes can be carried at each of the two berthing heads.
