More stadium seating coating success

Keywords: Plascoat, Corrosion prevention, Alloys, Polymers

Plascoat's versatile Performance Polymer Alloy coating PPA571 is set to record a "triple crown" of seating corrosion protection successes at major sporting venues throughout UK.

Following use on seating at the Scotland national soccer ground at Hampden Park, Glasgow, and the joint soccer/rugby league Robin Stadium development at Wigan, PPA571 is one of the finishing touches to be added to the new Millennium Stadium at Cardiff Arms Park.

The Cardiff venue - the setting for the final of this year's Rugby World Cup- will feature seating with the supporting frames spray coated in the Plascoat material that is presenting a real challenge to the international sector domination of polyethylene.

The claimed long-term adhesion and resistance to vandal attack are said to be two of the points "converting" stadium chiefs and specialist contractors to PPA571, which can be applied using either dip coating or electrostatic spraying(PPA571 ES) techniques. Even if the PPA coating is breached by vandals it maintains surrounding adhesion and allows simple repair.

Usually requested to provide a glossy black finish, PPA571 also adorns the homes of football clubs Liverpool and Manchester United, has been used at Wimbledon and at venues from Denmark to the Middle East.

Directly applied to cleaned mild steel or aluminium without the need for a primer, other performance plus points claimed include good edge coverage, high levels of resistance to UV rays, impact, abrasion, stress cracking, weather and pollutants.
