Corrosion in the spotlight

Keywords: TWI, Inspection

Reports on a major project aimed at optimising inspection for corrosion in the oil, gas and petrochemical industries will be presented at an important forthcoming seminar. Entitled "Exploiting new inspection techniques to combat corrosion" and organised by TWI, the event will be held in London on 9 December 1999. It is cosponsored by the British Institute of Non-destructive Testing and the Certification Scheme for Welding and Inspection Personnel.

The three year project (called RACH Reliability Assessment of Containers of Hazardous Materials) has explored corrosion damage modelling and inspection performance data using a range of inspection techniques. This has led to the development of rational inspection scheduling criteria for plant reliability assessment.

Speakers have been drawn from the project partners University College,London; Technical Software Consultants; TWI and Bureau Veritas; and from the sponsors the Health and Safety Executive, Shell and Marathon.

TWI considers that all those concerned about corrosion problems in the oil,gas and petrochemical industries will benefit by attending.
