Dr Richard Dolby, director of Research and Technology at TWI, was awarded the OBE in the Queen's recent Birthday Honours.
The award was given in recognition of services to industry and technology transfer.
Dr Dolby is highly respected worldwide for his contribution to materials engineering, particularly related to welding and joining. He has worked at TWI since 1966 and has been Director of Research and Technology since 1987. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, the Institute of Materials and The Welding Institute.
