Directors of PPG Industries recently elected James G. Berges as a member of the company's board. He is president of St Louis-based Emerson Electric Co.

James became Emerson's president in May 1999. He is responsible for the company's corporate growth and development activities as well as its electronics and telecommunications business.

He joined Emerson in 1976 and has held a variety of increasingly responsible operating and staff posts. He was elected to the Emerson board in 1997.
