PPA571 proves water pipeline protection performance in UK trials

Keywords: Plascoat, Coatings, Anti-corrosion

European Thermoplastics Company Plascoat reports that it has added a major performance test triumph to its rapid sweep of international toxicological benchmarks for its PPA571 coating material for water pipelines and fittings.

Plascoat informs us that its PPA571H (Blue) has been independently tested in the UK to the Water Industry Specification (WIS) 4-52-01 approval, meeting all the requirements for polymeric anti-corrosion coatings.

The tests carried out by an independent laboratory are said to have shown that the PPA571H coating, applied to a thickness of 400 microns, met the salt spray requirements of BS 3900; failed to crack in flexibility trials; showed no loss of adhesion, no penetration by 14mm aggregate in attack tests and resisted the effects of emersion for seven days in water maintained at a temperature of 50°C.
