Hammerite cuts the cost of street lighting maintenance
Lamp post paint finishes are constantly damaged by dogs, vehicles, prams and the environment in general. Dog urine contains acids which attack paint finishes, prams and vehicles inflict impact damage, causing chipping and fracturing, while finally the environment allows rust to form.
What is not commonly appreciated is the cost to local authorities of this problem. Gillingham Borough Council in Kent has minimised maintenance costs by treating all its street lighting columns with Hammerite Metal Finish.
