Research and Test Apparatus

A new semi‐automatic ultrasonic flaw detector—claimed to be unique in this country and possibly in Europe—has been developed for their own use by James Booth & Co. Ltd., Argyle Street Works, Birmingham, 7. The apparatus is designed to scan automatically high strength light alloy plates and various types of extrusions, and a continuous and permanent record of any flaw or defect in the materials is provided. The detector provides an extremely accurate cross‐check on existing equipment and has been put into routine use at their works at Kitts Green, Birmingham.
