Innovative solution to Nimrod oxygen system requirement

Normalair-Garrett Ltd(NGL) has been selected by British Aerospace, Military Aircraft Division for the supply of the crew breathing (oxygen) system to be fitted to the Nimrod MRA Mk 4 maritime reconnaissance aircraft.

The installation is based around NGL's Generic OnBoard Oxygen Generating System (OBOGS) and is the first embodiment of this equipment in a large aircraft of this type. The established OBOGS benefits of independence from ground replenishment, enhanced operational flexibility and reduced life cycle costs remain, but are now available for large aircraft with multi-man crews.

Normalair-Garrett Ltd(NGL) has also been selected by Lockheed Martin Aeronautical Systems for the supply of a component which greatly improves the performance of the crew breathing (oxygen) system being fitted to some C-130J aircraft. It can equally be fitted to any other variants of C-130 aircraft.

The destratification manifold enables flight crews to breathe from the liquid oxygen system much sooner after replenishment than has hitherto been possible.
