Racal Instruments has appointed Doug McGinn as the new director of its defence business unit. With over 18 years in the electronics and defence industries, he brings a wealth of managerial, project and commercial experience to this strategically important post, particularly in the field of systems integration and business development, which is key to Racal's business.

Prior to joining Racal, he held the post of engineering director of Alenia Marconi Systems, Dynamic Divisions, based at Borehamwood, UK, and was involved in the integration of the UK and Italian divisions. In addition, McGinn has held a variety of directorships and senior management positions, working with a number of different Marconi defence business divisions and companies. During this time, he was instrumental in the successful progression of several major integrated defence system projects, formulating and implementing both management and business strategies.
