A small truck, the E2–20/3W (FIG. 1) is a new production of Conveyancer Fork Trucks Ltd. (a division of Electro‐Hydraulics Ltd.) and is three‐wheeled, with the single rear wheel acting as both driver and steerer. It will carry a 2,000 lb. load, centred up to 20 in. from the heel of the forks and it will comfortably handle this load up a 10 per cent gradient or on the level at a speed of 4½ to 4¾ m.p.h. unladen. The rear‐wheel drive has several important advantages: all the driving mechanism is in one unit and can be readily removed for servicing; the weight is where it is wanted at the back of the truck; the front axle, which carries the weight, is simple and robust; and there is plenty of room for good size brakes. The truck has been specially designed for operation in the minimum gangway widths and it has an exceptionally small outer turning radius.
