I welcome this opportunity of contributing a message to Aircraft Engineering on the occasion of the 1964 Society of British Aerospace Companies' Exhibition and Flying Display. The Farnborough Show is more than a shop window for the British aerospace industry. It is a positive illustration that our skill in design and manufacture remains undiminished. If anything, it is being sharpened by the relentless pressure of international competition.
