★FIRST BRITISH RADAR EQUIPMENT FOR RUSSIA. A Marconi/Thomson Secar secondary radar system, one of the most sophisticated and effective civil air traffic control systems in the world, is being shipped to Russia in a few months time for six months of rigorous evaluation trials. Following extensive negotiations between the Marconi/Thomson Consortium, which jointly manufactures Secar, and the Soviet State Committee for Science and Technology, it has been agreed to supply Secar to Vnokovo Airport near Moscow for tests and later possible sale.
