Westland's Milton Keynes factory has been re‐equipped at a cost of £1½ million. Representing a carefully conceived “alternative automation” approach, the modernised factory uses the latest advanced machine tools and computers to improve productivity, but retains the inherent flexibility and skills of human operators.
