THIS was the title of a presentation made by Rudi den Hertog, Fokker 100 Chief Engineer, at the 1st Fokker 100 Operators Conference early this year. The following is a summary of his very frank and detailed paper, It describes how the cause of, and cure for, failure of the port main landing gear (MLG) on a KLM Fokker 100 were determined in the course of a widespread 12‐months' investigation.
