IMI Titanium Ltd.'s alloy IMI 834 has been selected by Pratt & Whitney Canada, Montreal, for use in the impeller in their PW305 turbofan aero‐engine, used in civil aircraft, in preference to other high temperature creep resistant alloys. The contract, with UK‐based Firth Rixson who are forging the impellers at Sheffield and Darley Dale, represents around £200,000 p.a. for IMI Titanium.
