IEC system chosen for first nine BBJs

Keywords Aircraft,Cabins, IEC

The first nine Boeing Business Jets (BBJs) are all to be equipped with integrated cabin management systems (CMS) designed and manufactured by in-flight systems specialists, IEC International.

The IEC system was specified by Raytheon System Company of Waco, Texas, one of the companies chosen by Boeing to design, engineer and install executive interiors on a number of BBJs. The CMS incorporates a databus system which minimises cabling and radically reduces the number of boxes needed on board the BBJ. The IEC solution offers significant cost and weight savings, while being easier to maintain and to reconfigure when necessary.

All these CMS systems feature the latest IEC touchscreen control panels, the technology first introduced by IEC, which is fast becoming the trend for cabin management systems today.

IEC International has also announced the establishment of a repair and overhaul facility at Fort Worth,Texas, through the acquisition of specialist electronics and avionics company,Air Carrier Avionics.
