Dunlop Aviation prepares for Eurofighter production phase

Dunlop Aviation has started work on the production phase of the Eurofighter for which it is the main contractor to DASA for the wheels, brakes and braking system.

Dunlop Aviation Braking Systems (DABS) has received production investment orders which cover design changes to the equipment supplied on the development aircraft. This includes a larger wheel and carbon brake (Plate 11).

The company has design and manufacturing responsibility for the nose wheel,main wheel, brake and brake skid control (BSCE) and wheel speed transducer(WSXDCR). With Ultra Electronics as sub-contractor it is also responsible for the landing gear computer (LGC).

In addition to its design responsibility Dunlop Aviation will manufacture and test parts of the equipment and manage workshare partners from the participating countries. This includes the UK participants, BGT (Bodenseewerk GerÌtetechnik)in Germany, CESA in Spain and SICAMB and Magnaghi in Italy.
