Tecnomatix Technologies reports that it has won a major contract to supply the European Aeronautic Defence and Space company, EADS Airbus, with its eMPower suite of e-Manufactudng software tools. The contract, worth $3.5million over five years, is a follow-on order to ensure the full implementation of a digital factory for the Airbus A380 programme, which will be building the world's largest, most advanced civil aircraft.

Previously, EADs Airbus used software from several different vendors for the planning and design of complex assemblies. The decision for the company to standardise on the eMPower suite of tools means that, from now on, all relevant manufacturing data will be held in a centralised e-Manufacturing Server database and will be available to all authorised engineers – regardless of their physical location. As a result, they will be able to work truly concurrently for the first time.
