Bodycote, the thermal processing and testing services group, operates over 360 facilities in 30 countries. The Group provides heat treatment and metal joining, testing, hot isostatic pressing and Bodycote Materials Testing, part of Bodycote International plc, has expanded in the North West of England with the re- location of the company's two major businesses in the region –North-West and PDL – to new purpose-built premises, to create a Regional Centre for Materials Testing.
Located in Centenary Park, a prestigious new development in Eccles, adjacent to Trafford Park, Manchester, the new facility occupies 30,000sq ft of laboratory and office space, which is now home to a range of materials testing capabilities comprising; mechanical testing, coatings, composites, polymer materials, plastic pipe testing, metallographic/ metallurgical services and a range of related consultancy services. Specialist activities such as corrosion,failure analysis and site auditing of PE pipe installations also feature.
Sean Kerr, managing director of Bodycote MTET Europe, explains the background behind the expansion and relocation of the two businesses:
“This move was business critical as we had outgrown our previous respective premises in the Salford area and it was vital that we secured top quality new premises nearby to facilitate our expansion. We have used the additional space to ergonomically design a layout to optimise operational efficiency and to provide enhanced service to our customer base throughout the North West region and beyond, both nationally and internationally. The new facility also provides a base for a number of Bodycote Testing Group directors,its European Sales and Marketing Centre and training facilities to serve Bodycote across Europe.”
