Bodycote invests in corrosion capabilities world-wide
Bodycote invests in corrosion capabilities world-wide Bodycote (Testing Group) Plc, recognised as a global leader in the supply of sour service corrosion testing to the pipeline industry, has made significant investment in equipment and staff in its laboratories worldwide to meet growing demand for high temperature and pressure testing in sour service environments in the gas and oil sectors.
More than $350k worth of high- nickel alloy autoclaves (6 x 10l), as well as an increase in professional corrosion engineering staff have been introduced at Bodycote's UK Corrosion Centre of Expertise based in the West Midlands. The centre offers slow strain rate corrosion and has plans to introduce corrosion fatigue testing later in 2007, under the direction of Bodycote Global Director of Corrosion, and Developer of the Full Ring Test for sour service pipeline applications, Dr Chris Fowler.
Corrosion investment elsewhere in the world has been made with a new sour service corrosion laboratory within the existing facilities at Houston, and additional sour service test capacity at the company's Norway and Middle- East laboratories. Sour service requirements in Italy are also serviced through Bodycote's laboratory at Crema.
In addition, the company's prestigious Materials Technology Centre in Singapore, opening in June 2007, will include a specialist oil and gas laboratory offering a range of services including mechanical testing, fracture mechanics, sour service corrosion testing and failure analysis.
